LEAD COORDINATOR - FT
(Hawaii Youth Opportunities Initiative)
EPIC ‘Ohana, Inc. is
seeking a lead coordinator to support a new statewide initiative that will
implement the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative in Hawaii, designed to
improve outcomes for youth transitioning from the foster care system. The Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative
includes five core strategies: Youth Engagement; Partnerships and Resources;
Research, Evaluation and Communications; Public Will and Policy and Increased
Opportunities for young people. The Lead Coordinator will be responsible for
ensuring that all strategies are being implemented.
Advanced degree or BA with 5+ years work experience. Strong organizational, business, management, networking, communication, writing skills. Affinity & experience with youth desired. Office work & field work.

BA, MA, MS, MSW, Family Law Degree or equivalent training.
Strong communication and writing skills, and a background in child abuse and neglect services helpful for all positions. Respectful, collaborative and solution-focused.
Youth Circle Facilitators require experience working with youth, and preferably some knowledge of the resources that are available to this population (housing, education, financial, etc.).

Lead Coordinator for Hawaii Youth Opportunities Initiative
The ideal candidate will demonstrate most of the following:
- Demonstrated
ability to exercise sound judgment, be self-directed and work with minimal
supervision.
- Real
understanding of youth development, able to form genuine partnerships with
young people, and able to work well with other adults.
- Nurturing,
but also dedicated to holding young people to a very high standard.
- Available
and accessible to young people, but able to exercise appropriate
boundaries.
- Ability
to create and support public private partnerships, including the banking
partner.
- Experience
working with different kinds of people and partners both public and
private, including non-profit, faith and business sectors.
- Experience
advocating at the legislative and state agency level.
- Keen
political sense and ability to maintain multiple complex relationships.
- Superb
analytical, writing, organizational and planning skills.
- Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability
to thrive in a highly collaborative workplace with colleagues of diverse
backgrounds and perspectives.
- Ability
to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
·
Demonstrated experience and proven skills in the
following areas are highly desirable:
community initiatives planning, community
collaborations, project management, strategic planning, public policy advocacy,
utilization of data for decision-making, personnel management, budget
administration and resource development.
- Basic proficiency in
Microsoft Office software
Facilitators
Facilitators are responsible for managing conferences between social workers, service providers, and extended families (with an average of 3 - 20 participants).
Recorders
Recorders are responsible for recording the "group memory" by writing on easel paper during the conference.
Coordinators
Coordinators do the preparation work in advance of conferences.
