Position: Coordinator, Full-Time

Location: Honolulu Office
Job Summary: The Coordinator coordinates engages families, social workers and service providers in preparation for professional, productive, efficient, respectful, compassionate and safe 'Ohana Conferences and re-conferences. Coordinators are responsible for completing all pre-conference tasks ensuring that all key participants will be attending the conference, that the purpose of the conference is clear and understood by all participants, and that the logistical aspects of the conference are planned and delivered. Responsible for completing successful scheduling of 4 conferences per week and to carry a maximum conference load of 20. Responsible for collecting, organizing, analyzing, all pre-conference documentation about case. Responsible for thorough, compassionate, ethical, professional and efficient telephone interviewing, of all key participants, including family and professional sources to appraise concerns and issues pertaining to the conference. Responsible for all steps as described the coordinator manual, leading to the successful scheduling of the ‘Ohana Conference or re-conference within two weeks of assignment or referral date from Social Worker or VCM Case Manager. Accurately document from all key participants, information such as concerns, dates of availability, contact information including fax number, telephone, mailing and e-mail address. Responsible for all logistical aspects of conferences including securing a site, pickup and delivery of packets, working with administrative staff to secure flights and transportation when necessary. Record or provide child care at conferences as requested or needed.


Education/Skills/Experience:
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training. Experience working with children and families in the child welfare system is preferred.
Excellent communication skills, in person and on the phone, are required for this position. Must be able to synthesize information in a clear and concise manner and write and speak clearly.
Ability to be proficient with computer use including keyboarding, word processing, spreadsheets and database manipulation. Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are required. Strong ability to write reports and correspondence. Must maintain an ethical, responsible and professional attitude and demeanor under all circumstances in person, by phone, e-mail and correspondence. Successful criminal and child abuse and neglect background clearance as required by state regulations for those who work with children and families in the Child Welfare System.
